How to add a free newsletter widget to Blogger

A newsletter form on Blogspot should be a box on your layout, not a third-party page that keeps the reader. SendRSS’s free plan includes capture widgets you can paste into Blogger with the same HTML/JavaScript gadget you already use for other snippets.

The form collects an address. They confirm from the inbox. New posts can then go out as email that sends them back to the article. There are no ads in the letter and no open pixels.

What “free” includes

On Free you get one feed, one list, three widgets, and 100 confirmed subscribers. RSS email can go out once per list per day. Widgets and letters include a small SendRSS credit. That is enough for most personal Blogger sites.

You still need to publish the widget. Drafts do not show on the blog.

Create the widget

  1. Create an account.
  2. Open Feeds and paste your Blogspot URL. We look for the feed.
  3. Open Lists, name the list, and attach that feed.
  4. Open Widgets, choose New widget, pick the list, set the heading and look, then save and publish.

Copy the Script (Blogger, most sites) snippet. Prefer the script over the iframe so a modal or floating bar still works.

Paste it on Blogger

  1. In Blogger, open Layout.
  2. Choose Add a gadget where the form should sit — sidebar, footer, or under the posts.
  3. Choose HTML/JavaScript.
  4. Paste the script. Save the gadget, then save the layout.

For one post only, open that post, switch to HTML view, paste the script, and publish.

For a modal or bar on every page, put the script in a gadget that is not hidden on any page. The script decides when the form appears. Closing it hides it for the rest of that visit.

If a theme strips the script, use the Iframe snippet in the same gadget. The form will sit inline. Full notes: add the widget to Blogger.

After it is live

Subscribe with your own address. You should get a confirm email, not a “you are in” lie. Status stays pending until you use the link.

Then open RSS email, pick the list and a template, and save. That is what actually mails new posts. The widget only captures.

The list is yours. Export CSV whenever you want. We do not sell data.
