How to add a free newsletter widget to WordPress

WordPress is happy to strip a <script> tag from a post. That is why SendRSS’s widget page also gives you an Iframe (WordPress-safe) snippet. On the free plan you can still put a newsletter form in a Custom HTML block, collect confirmed readers, and mail new posts back to the article.

What “free” includes

Free is one feed, one list, three widgets, 100 confirmed subscribers, and one RSS email per list per day. Widgets and letters include a small SendRSS credit. Upgrade later if you need more lists or to hide the credit.

Publish the widget in SendRSS before you paste anything. Drafts do not render on the site.

Create the widget

1. Create an account.
2. Add your site or RSS URL on Feeds.
3. Create a list on that feed.
4. Create a widget, save, and publish.

For an inline form in a post, page, or sidebar, copy Iframe. WordPress post content usually removes scripts. The iframe always shows the form itself — not a modal over the page.

Paste it in WordPress

Post or page (block editor). Add a Custom HTML block. Paste the iframe. Update.

Classic editor. Open the Text tab, paste the iframe, and update.

Sidebar or footer. Appearance → Widgets, or the site editor on a block theme. Add Custom HTML. Paste the iframe. Save.

On WordPress.com, Custom HTML is available when the plan allows it. If the editor removes the iframe, use a self-hosted site or the script method below.

Modal or floating bar

Those layouts need the Script snippet. Paste it in the site footer so it loads on every page — a child theme footer, or a plugin that only injects header and footer code. After it loads, the script opens the form on click, delay, scroll, or exit intent. Closing it hides it for the rest of that visit.

Do not paste that script into a paragraph block. The tags will show as text, or WordPress will strip them.

After it is live

Join with your own address and confirm. Then save RSS email so new posts actually go out. The widget is how people join; the letter is how they come back to the post.

Export the list whenever you want. Pending stays pending until they confirm.
